You better recognize this Heritage Highstepper’s talent! We had Alex McKay kicking her way across our studio during her Dallas senior portrait session – and man can she high step!

Did you know High school high stepping was created back in 1929 in Greenville, Texas, by Ms. Gussie Nell Davis – the founder of the prestigious Rangerettes? We learned that the original purpose behind creating the dance and drill teams was to add a bit of military flare to football games, but when Miss Davis was contacted by the President of Kilgore College, she was given the challenge to create a group that would “be interesting and keep the folks in their seats at half-time.”

Today, if you head to a Heritage High School football game you can catch our stunning senior model rep on the front line, in perfect synchronization with the rest of her 40+ teammates!

As we were on our way to Downtown McKinney, we spied some hay bales in a field. We all just love that open blue sky and fields with those giant yellow polka dots lining the horizon. Alex, being pretty adventurous, climbed up on the first hay bale she could get to for a few great shots! We ourselves are not the most graceful of people, but Alex had training with her team’s highstepping routines, and mastered it while looking absolutely fantastic the entire time we were in the field.

I absolutely LOVED every single photo Tyler took for me! Every time I went in to take pictures, I had such a great time. Tyler and his staff are so much fun, and it was a blast taking photos with him, from the moment I walked in to the time I left. He is, by far, the best Senior Photographer I know!

Oh, did we mention that it had just rained when we headed out for our shoot? Not only was it pretty muddy, there were grasshoppers everywhere. And when we say everywhere, we mean e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. Alex was a total trooper during the shoot, and even wanted to stop for a minute to watch a turf war between a spider and a grasshopper! After playing in the dirt, we pulled some wipes from our infamous ‘fanny’ – a fanny PACK that holds anything you could ever need in it – and went along our way to continue the shoot.

Alex grew up in Los Angeles, California, but quickly fell in love with the historic city of McKinney, especially downtown. When we asked Alex where she was thinking about heading for college, she told us that she really liked OSU, but is also looking into OU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Baylor. We aren’t surprised that she wants to go into Graphic Design as she is on Heritage High School’s Yearbook Staff, but we were interested to hear that she is also might be pursuing a degree in Neuro Science – pretty and intelligent!

Whereever this country music loving senior is going to attend college, we know that she will stand out as a star and we will always remember our fun and adventurous Dallas senior portrait session with her!
