The idea of a post-apocalyptic world is not a new one. There are countless movies that are set in this fantastical setting (Mad Max, The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, etc.) and countless authors that have spurred the need to see what our future could look like should there be a nuclear war or some landscape changing natural disaster. We decided it was high-time that we dip our hand in the preverbal pool – and put our own twist on this same idea.
2017 senior model reps, Jadzia Sanchez, from Lone Star High School was joined by two of our newer 2018 senior model reps, Haley Jameson from Heritage High School and Isabel Roemer from Richardson High School at our studio before the shoot. After a short pow-wow we started on hair and makeup, and although none of us are professionals, Haley, Jadzia, and Isabel looked like they had time traveled from a more primitive, glittery future!
One of our photographers has a friend, Axl Thomas, a UNT alum and fellow photographer who had a good deal of neat props. He was kind enough to let us borrow some of the neat things he had made and help styled the girls during their north Dallas senior shoot! We also borrowed some handmade jewelry from Denton artist, Bethany Hodge, and the beautifully detailed necklaces, bracelets, and rings were the missing link that made the senior’s outfits come together.
And our location couldn’t have been any better. We headed out to CTC Auto Ranch just outside of Denton, Texas. CTC Auto Ranch is a new location for our team, and its secluded spot is perfect for senior portraits! With a few acres of old, rusting, classic cars and the stunning afternoon light, our team was in heaven. It was a little muddy, but our models stuck it out and posed like professionals!
When we broke out the smoke bombs from Enola Gaye, we knew that we had hit our mark. One of our awesome interns ran, dove, jumped, and waved the smoke bombs to create the specific look we were going for and it was a huge success! Sadly, the auto ranch was closing and we had to leave, but it was an absolutely amazing way to start 2017 and we can’t wait to have some more sessions in the coming months!
