We aren’t sure if you know this: cheerleading is not a joke. Especially when it comes to TRB Elite Model, Mandi Clausen. This Heritage High School senior is a top competitor in the cheer world, but you won’t be seeing her on the football field during half-time. Mandi has taken it to a whole new level with Spirit of Texas, an extremely competitive competitive cheer group that does everything from peppy chants to death-defying stunts that leave the audience wowed and, well, cheered.

Already having the pleasure of working with Mandi once before during our Country Chic session earlier this summer, we were excited to see her and her fun personality again. What we weren’t expecting? Her amazing relationship with her mom. We see a lot of seniors with their parents, and although there is always a lot of love, these two were best friends and showed it throughout our hike through Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. At one point, Mandi jumped on top of a manhole cover and her mom proceeded to call her the ‘poo princess’ for the remainder of the shoot. Needless to say, we loved it and so did Mandi.

At one point, we were nervous that we were going to have to reschedule the shoot. Over the last few months, we’ve had to reschedule due to the heat (we’re just not meant to suffer in the 113 degree weather) but for the first time in three months, it was threatening to rain on our parade. Luckily for us, the rain held off and we were able to make it out to Arbor Hills with only a five minute sprinkle. We were a little worried about the cloud cover, but that ended up become our favorite thing about this shoot – aside from Mandi of course! The storm clouds were absolutely gorgeous with the sunset and gave off an alluring array of stunning sky scenes that we were able to use for a fantastic backdrop.

Mandi told us as we were wrapping up in the studio that she can’t wait for hockey season to start back up. An avid fan, Mandi and her dad try to go to all of the Dallas Stars’ games, and Mandi even sported her signed Tyler Seguin jersey in her senior portraits! Hopefully Mr. Seguin will sign the photo of her wearing his jersey and give us a signature inception!

We adored our time with Mandi and we are excited to see how her senior year unfolds!
